Welcome to New Germany, MN
Welcome to the City of New Germany, a small rural community of about 425 people, located in the northwestern corner of Carver County. New Germany is part of School District 110.
New Germany’s fire department, formed in 1901, is 116 years old. Every year in August, the fire department hosts an annual softball tournament for area fire departments. Teams from Hennepin, Wright, Scott, McLeod, and Carver counties participate in this event. The fire department is always looking for new members, men or women. If interested, please contact the city office for more information.
In the City of New Germany we have many beautiful parks. We have the baseball and softball parks, along with horseshoes, Gazebo Park, and Tower Park. Many of the parks have playgrounds. In 2017, our local baseball team, the New Germany Dutchmen, hosted the regional tournament for the Crow River Valley League.
New Germany also has the Commercial Club, which is a great group of people who host many events in the city, including National Night Out, Easter egg hunt, kids Halloween party, breakfast with Santa, and many events at the City Park. This group is always looking for new members. If interested, please call the city office.
The Dakota Rail Regional Trail system also runs through the great City of New Germany. There is a trailhead located in New Germany, and the trail runs from Lester Prairie to Wayzata. This is a beautiful countryside trail to walk or ride a bike on. Every day you see people and/or children utilizing this family-friendly trail.
The city council meets the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the city hall. More information is available on the city website, cityofnewgermany.com or by emailing the city at firstname.lastname@example.org. The city also has a Facebook page; please look us up and be our friend!
We hope this encourages you to come see New Germany and maybe once you visit New Germany, you will want to make this your home.
Thank you, Steve Van Lith
Mayor, City of New Germany
